Mother, writer, designer… and eternal dreamer.
Born in Bulgaria, Geri has spent a big part of her life travelling the world. She now lives in Western Australia with her Aussie husband.
Geri has worked and lived in Ethiopia, Romania, and Ukraine. Living as an expat in different countries further developed her innate curiosity about the world, its people, cultures, and aesthetic expressions.
Her first experience abroad – living in Tigray Province in Ethiopia – started her travel writing journey. Writing mostly to friends and family, she wrote about the country and the people of Ethiopia, trying to see the subtle threads that connect people and places with history and traditions and that make every country what it is.
After returning to Bulgaria in 2010, Geri started her first blog, When Woman Travels, in 2014. On the blog, she shared advice to female travellers while continuing to travel to many more countries. During that time, she was a member of the Association of the Owners of Tourist Online Media in Bulgaria as well as of the Bulgarian Association of Journalists and Travel Writers. In 2019, she accomplished her Diploma in Freelance and Travel Writing from the London School of Journalism.
On the other end of her skills and interests, she has a Diploma in Interior Design and got her combined English and Bulgarian degrees in Bachelor of Hospitality Management and later MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University and Varna University of Management.
Life in Australia
Since 2018, Geri lives in Australia where she met her husband during a solo trip to the Red Centre. Because of her new personal priorities, she has decided to change her female-travel-oriented blog for a new one. The shift to a new website allows her to share information and inspiration that reflect better her wider than just ‘travel’ knowledge and experience.
When she is not writing, she employs her interior design skills and business knowledge in the company that she and her husband started to help people prepare their homes for sale, rent or living.
